Investigation on Bamboo Industry in Nanping City

The increasingly serious problem of plastic pollution threatens human health, and bamboo, as a green, low-carbon, and biodegradable biomass material, can replace plastic products in many fields and reduce pollution. In November 2022, China and the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization jointly launched the "Replace Plastic with Bamboo" initiative to better leverage the outstanding advantages and role of bamboo in replacing plastic products.

In recent years, Nanping City, Fujian Province, known as the "Bamboo Township of Bamboo Shoots in China", based on the advantages of bamboo resources, has continued to innovate on the road of "replacing plastic with bamboo" and comprehensively promoted the high-quality development of the entire chain of the bamboo industry.

Nanping City, located in the north of Fujian Province, is rich in bamboo resources. Its bamboo forest area and bamboo production rank first among prefecture-level cities in the country. It is known as the "Bamboo Township of Chinese Bamboo Shoots". Here, a piece of bamboo can be turned into various products such as bamboo sticks, bamboo chopsticks, bamboo straws, bamboo tea trays, and bamboo outdoor boards. Over the years, through exploration and practice, Nanping City has developed from the early rough processing of bamboo products to the current intensive processing. The "bamboo instead of plastic" products sell well all over the country, as well as in Europe, America, Japan, South Korea and other countries.
