In a perfect world we would all be able to wake up, roll out of bed, and already have our hair perfectly fixed.  But we all know we do not live in a perfect world and perfect hair days do not just magically happen.  To have a good hair day we need to make sure we have the products we need to keep our hair clean and smooth.  We probably have a favorite shampoo and conditioner bar that we love to use on our hair because it works really well and smells great.  In addition to such hair products, many of us have chosen to use a nice eco-friendly hairbrush such as one made of bamboo, every day.  At Seek Bamboo, we thrive to offer natural beauty products to use in your everyday sustainable life.

But once we have the perfect bamboo brush it is important that we take time to keep the brush clean.  During everyday use our hairbrushes collect hair, dust, and other grime that we don’t want to run through our hair as we are brushing it.  If we take care of our brushes, they will better be able to take care of us.  We might wonder if we have the time or energy to clean our wooden hairbrush but in truth the process is simple.  Cleaning our brushes is important because it will allow us to get the perfect hairstyle more often and have more good hair days.

Step One Remove Hair

To keep our brushes clean it is important that we remove the hair that tends to collect on them.  Don’t worry we all typically lose between 50-100 hairs a day, so seeing hair on our brushes is totally normal.  Removing these hairs is an easy process.  Typically, hair can be removed by simply pulling it away from the brush.  Sometimes if it has been a while since we have cleaned a brush, we will need to grab a pen or similar object to get the hair out.  Finally in some extreme cases the hair has gotten a bit snarled up and we will have to gently cut it away from the brush.

Step Two Wash the Bamboo Brush

Once we have removed any excess hair the next step in cleaning our bamboo or wooden brush is to wash it.  It is generally recommended that we fill a bowl with warm water and a few drops of shampoo.  Dip the brush into the bowl of water and shake it several times.  This will help loosen and remove oils, dead skin cells, and product buildup.  The cleaner our brushes are the better they will work and the neater our hair will be.  If we clean our brushes regularly this is all we will have to do to keep them clean

Step Three Deep Clean

Sometimes we get busy with life and realize it has been a while since we last cleaned our brush.  In these cases, we might want to do a bit of a deep clean.  The best way to deep clean a bamboo hairbrush is to use an old bamboo toothbrush.  We can dip the toothbrush into the soapy water and gently scrub each bristle as well as the sides and back of the brush.  This will leave us with a nice and clean hairbrush.

Step Four Dry Our Bamboo Brush

After cleaning our bamboo brush, it is a good idea to gently rinse it under cool water to remove any lingering shampoo residue.  Once our hairbrush is completely clean it is important that we make sure to allow it to dry completely.  This can be done by leaving the brush to dry, bristles facing down, on top of a clean cloth or towel.  Once the brush is dry it is ready to use.

If we want to be able to manage our hair and feel good about ourselves it is important that we keep our eco-friendly brushes nice and clean.  Cleaning a brush is a pretty simple process.  We simply need to remove any excess hair on the brush, wash the brush including maybe using a toothbrush if our hairbrush needs a good deep cleaning and then letting our bamboo brush dry out completely.  If we follow these steps, we will be able to have more good hair days which always brightens our days.
